Radioactive Source Security Course

25 November 2021

Leeds

The Source Security and Emergency Planning Committee held another successful course to train Radioactive Waste Advisors (RWAs) in Leeds last week.  The course is aimed at RWA candidates and others who are in the basics of protecting radioactive materials from malicious adversaries.

A total of 41 delegates attended the one-day event to hear presentations on threat, regulation and UK security requirements.  In addition, for the first time, colleagues from ONR attended to share introductory information about security of sources during transport which had been requested by delegates who attended earlier courses.  On this occasion, all the delegates who took the assessment at the end of the course passed!

Further courses will be run in the future if there is sufficient demand.  Expressions of interest should be lodged by emailing charlene.cartwright@srp-uk.org for a late 2022 course.  All photos from the event can be found below; presentations will not be made available due to the nature of this course.
